Zach Bates

“I'd be happy to recommend Zach for any creative endeavor. During his time with us, he showcased his talent for creating clear, sleek designs, producing work that is sophisticated, visually appealing, and effective at communicating messages. Zach played a pivotal role in the successful brand redesign for our company that brought our public look and feel to a whole new level.”

– Todd Watson, CEO + Owner at Showit

  • Zach brings over a decade of strategic design and specialized branding experience to the table, having worked with hundreds of professional clients, some even before receiving his Bachelor’s in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of Phoenix. Zach has led teams as a Creative Director in the tech and apparel industries, in addition to having an extensive background Art Directing design and marketing teams at creative agencies; crafting brands, developing standards, and strategically telling the stories of brands you’ve likely heard of.

Over time, he has developed a keen understanding of why good design resonates—or why bad design fails. Witnessing poor scriptwriting in marketing has further shaped his approach: he only releases the best possible solutions, limiting mediocre experiences and creating relevant ones that leave lasting impressions. Zach has always had an eye for detail, taking on quality assurance duties wherever he goes. Some may call it perfectionism, but we view it as having a high set of standards. Because of this, we’re anything but remedial. You don’t remediate your way to excellence, and neither does he.

Aside from an interest in all things design and direction, he’s also a copywriter, photographer, and songwriter. Catch a preview of his post-rock outfit and nod your head along while you write to us.

Stephen Simms
  • Stephen thrives when creating and sharing alternate viewpoints—ones that captivate with beauty and intrigue. Throughout his career, he has discovered a clear connection between his success and his ability to solve creative challenges. More specifically, he excels in generating ideas that drive sales. With nearly a decade of experience collaborating with Athena to bring brands’ visions to life through video, it’s safe to say Stephen is a seasoned creative and a well-vetted director who crafts compelling narratives with care.

Developing digital worlds and capturing the real one.

  • Mark is the epitome of someone who can pick anything up for the first time and immediately excel at it—a true natural talent. But don’t let that fool you; when he zeroes in on something that interests him, he dives deep, learns it inside out, and works to master it. Whether jumping into his nursing studies, earning a degree in Audio Production Technologies, or completing his Bachelor’s in Computer Science with an emphasis in Software Engineering at ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, his relentless drive to excel sets him apart. He devotes himself to his craft at a measure that inspires us to hold ourselves at a higher standard of everything we do.

Mark writes and debugs code for Astreax–who have some pretty high-level contracts–which speaks to his level of trustworthiness, adhering to multiple protocols and security systems in place. He even successfully debugged code mid-phone call while being interviewed for this bio write-up. Beyond software engineering, he’s got a deep understanding of music theory and a perfectly-trained ear (maybe even perfect pitch), making him the back-bone of Mikata, the post-rock duo he forms with Zach.

Mark has experience in management too, having run a storefront and handling all of the day-to-day responsibilities that went along with it for over 5 and a half years as a GM. The corporation he worked for at the time flew him out to month long, all-expenses paid, educational and hands-on training seminars to learn best practices in leadership. Plus, he’s put out both figurative and literal fires. Who wouldn’t want someone like that on their team? Add in his skills behind a camera and knowledge of editing software, and it’s clear: he’s a vital force in making things happen.

Simplifying complexity, turning knowledge into action.
